Your gateway to great resources: The GU/MSB library! The GU/MSB library contains many resources for legal research. This handout is a quick guide to accessing the best tools for your classes.

Where to look

      • Case Law
        • Minnesota Digest Blue - An index to cases, grouping them by topic & gives citations so the cases can be looked up in the Reporter.
          • Topics listed in alphabetical order.
          • Each topic has an index to make it easy to find specific information.
          • Check for Pocket Parts in the back of the book for the most recent cases.
        • Minnesota Reporter Tan - The CASES as tried.
          • Cases indexed by Key Numbers found in the Minnesota Digest series.
          • Covers opinions and decisions issued by MN state courts.
          • Check for Pocket Parts in the back of the book for the most recent cases.
      • Laws on the Books
        • Minnesota Statutes Green - The LAW as passed by the government.
        • Minnesota Statutes Annotated Maroon - The LAW as passed by the government with analysis and commentary.
          • MSA is based on the text of official statutes of the state.
          • Includes text of all statutes, expertly-prepared annotations summarizing cases interpreting the statutory language (grouped by the statutory provision at issue), cross-references, legislative history, and historical notes.
          • Also includes library references, law review commentaries, references to the West Key Number System®, citation to attorney general opinions, USCA®, and United States Supreme Court references.

        • Minnesota Practice Green - Worksheets etc. to perform the legal procedures.
          • In-depth examination of a variety of legal topics.
