About the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews all projects involving animals to ensure that they are justified by their benefits and minimize any animal pain or suffering that might occur.
The IACUC regularly inspects all campuses using animals and all projects housing animals, including animals not routinely used in the classroom.
Ensuring that animals are used appropriately and cared for humanely is a responsibility borne by both the scientific community and society at large. There are good reasons to use animals in teaching, but our respect for life and our duty not to cause unnecessary harm place constraints on those activities.
Upholding Globe University/Minnesota School of Business’ responsibility toward its animals is the charge of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), as specified by The Animal Welfare Act regulated by the APHIS division of the USDA. The IACUC oversees all of the campuses veterinary technology programs and facilities that either house or use animals.
The IACUC regularly inspects each facility that uses animals and reevaluates the Globe University/Minnesota School of Business’ overall animal care and use program.
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is comprised of five members and an alternate member.
