Start with Federal Sources

No one wants to take out a loan, but we recognize that loans have become necessary for most students to fund their education. In order to reduce the cost of borrowing as much as possible, Globe University/Minnesota School of Business encourages all students to take advantage of the benefits of the Federal Loan programs, which include the following:

  • Federal Direct Stafford Loan (Subsidized and Unsubsidized)
  • Federal Direct PLUS (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students) Loan

In order to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) you will need your Federal PIN that you used to sign your FAFSA. If you don't remember you PIN you Request a Duplicate PIN by clicking here.

Steps to complete the loan process:

You must complete entrance counseling prior to applying for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan. Entrance counseling will provide you with an overview of the rights, responsibilities and provisions of the Federal Direct Stafford Loan program. We recommend that you complete the entrance counseling at your earliest opportunity, as it is a requirement before the loans can be processed. Once the student has completed the counseling process, the Financial Aid Office will receive electronic notification that counseling has been completed. Loan applications will NOT be processed until we have received confirmation that you have completed Loan Entrance Counseling.

2.     Complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)

The Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) is the application that students must complete to receive the Federal Direct Stafford Loan. The MPN is completed online by selecting the link above signing in with you federal PIN and following the links to Sign Master Promissory Note.

The Link above can allso be used by parents of dependent students to complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note.  Please remember the parent that will be completing the PLUS Master Promissory Note needs to have a Federal PIN number in order to sign the MPN electonically.

If you need assistance completing your MPN, please contact your campus financial aid office. The Financial Aid advisors at each campus are available to help complete both the entrance counseling as well as the needed MPN.

If additional funding is needed, Globe University/Minnesota School of Business has numerous alternative loan options. Since the alternative loans are offered from private lenders, a credit check will be done to determine a student’s eligibility. If you use alternative loans, we recommend using a cosigner to ensure acceptance and get the best rates possible.

Before graduating, you will also need to complete NSLDS Direct Loan Exit Counseling.
