MSB Online Graduate – Fall 2006

Hi! My name is Suzette Taber (Sue).  My family and I live in Amery, Wisconsin. My husband Ward and I have three daughters: Alysha, 21, a full time college student, Melissa, 19, who is going to be going back into college at the beginning of the year, and Amanda, 16, who is a junior in high school. Ward and I also have a 19 month old grandson Tristan who we help take care of and love every minute of it.

My family was very supportive in helping me while I was attending MSB. (Don’t tell anyone but my husband is a much better cook then me.) My family’s support made my college experience terrific.

Professional background
I worked for SSG Corporation as convenience store manager in Amery for 7 years and I was a manager for the Hammond, Wisconsin store for the same company for one year before moving to the Amery store. I have always worked in the customer service field and enjoy working with the public. I have a total of 16 years in the retail industry.

Why I’ve enjoyed being an MSB Online student
Even though I found that online classes can be very challenging, I found I was able to receive help from the instructors by telephone or sometimes just by emailing them and letting then know that I was in need of help. I like being able to go in and do each class at my own pace.  I found this very helpful as I am also someone who has a learning disability and this allowed me to be able to read and reread as needed.

I am very thankful for the instructors who went over and above to help me when I was in need of help. I also receive a lot of help from Ann Mickelson as well as Jodi Bergerson. I found that there were a lot of people who were willing to help whenever they were able and if they were not, they would find someone who was able to help me out. I graduated in 2006 with a Diploma in Business Administrative Assistant. This was a program that I found very helpful as I started my own business. I had to do a business plan for one of my classes and I also had to do one, although a little more intense, for my business.

What am I doing now?
I am running my own laser engraving business, Taber Creative Innovations. You can see some of the work we have done at my website www.tcistudios.net.  Having my own business gives me the freedom to balance work and personal life. I use my college skills every day, and the organizational, planning and accounting skills I learned have helped me build my business. I am looking forward to growing my business and am enjoying life as a business owner.
