The purpose of attending a job fair is to network with potential employers. It gives you an opportunity to obtain information on careers, position openings, company history, salary expectations, industry growth and trends, and requirements needed for a job. It also allows you to speak with multiple companies at one time.

Tips For Attending A Job Fair:
Dress and conduct yourself professionally. For tips on how to dress professionally, see Dress For Success. Do not approach an employer in groups of friends or classmates; instead go up to an employer alone and introduce yourself. This will show initiative and confidence. It is your chance to “sell” yourself to an employer. Ask questions to show interest and tell the potential employer about your skills and abilities. Give him/her your résumé and ask to set up an interview.
