Globe Education Network Matching Scholarship
GEN wants to encourage and reward students for finding outside scholarships and grants to help fund their education expenses. Therefore, GEN has established a matching scholarship for outside scholarships and grants. This Matching Scholarship will help reduce the student's educational indebtedness.
The GEN Matching Scholarship will match "outside" scholarships such as:
- The Rotary Club
- Dollars for Scholars
- High School Scholarships
- Business Scholarships
- Association Scholarships
- Foundation and Non-profit Scholarships
The GEN Matching Scholarship will NOT match:
- Federal Money such as Federal Financial Aid or Federal Gear Up Scholarships
- State Money such as Vocational Rehab Funds, State Grants, County Payments, or other state funded educational funding
- Military Funding - State, Federal, or County
- Employer Tuition Reimbursements
- Cash Payments from student and family
- Internal GEN Scholarships such as, but not limited to:
- Presidents Scholarship
- Community Service Scholarship
- Directors' Scholarship
- Book discounts
- Attendance Scholarship
- High school Advantage Scholarship
- Other GEN Scholarships
GEN Matching Scholarship Award Process
Deadline: There is no deadline. Anytime a student secures an eligible scholarship or grant and funds are applied to the student's account, GEN will match any eligible scholarship or grant up to $1,000. GEN will match multiple scholarships and grants in one year but the total amount of GEN Matching Scholarship will not exceed $1,000 per academic year. This match may require an adjustment to the student financial aid package. If an adjustment must take place, loans will be reduced first.
The GEN Matching Scholarship will match the terms covered by the outside scholarship, so if the outside scholarship only covers two of the students four terms in a year, the GEN Matching Scholarship would only cover two of the student's four terms.
No essay or application will be required. The GEN Matching Scholarship will simply match any outside eligible scholarships the student can secure. The GEN financial aid office will automatically match the outside scholarships.
This GEN Matching Scholarship will be recurring as long as the outside scholarship is recurring or until $1,000 match has been reached for the year.
The GEN Matching Scholarship must be refunded completely if the student withdraws entirely from the college. This means a student who receives a GEN Matching Scholarship and then withdraws, will have the GEN Matching Scholarship completely eliminated from the student's ledger card, which may result in a student owing additional funds to the college. If the student loses the outside scholarship, the student will also lose the GEN Matching Scholarship.
All funds will be paid directly to the college to cover educational expenses or will be used to reduce the student's loans.
